The Walking Dead is a T.V. show about surviving a zombie attack. It starts off in a hospital with a wounded sheriff deputy. When he wakes up, the hospital is in ruins and there are many dead bodies. The first encounter with a zombie is a door that is chained closed and has do not open written in what appears to be blood. The door starts to creak and opens a little. Through the slit come white, long, bony fingers.
This T.V. show has many similarities to a classic zombie novel or show. First of all, the zombie is a disease passed through a bite. Second, the zombies eat human or animal flesh (which is found in most stories with zombies). Third, the zombies seem to have nothing to do other than wander around and eat, and they don’t seem to be too fast or intelligent. The final apparent similarity is the appearance of rotting flesh and exposed bone.
Although the zombies were pretty typical there was one apparent difference. There was a son and a father who had lost their wife/son to the disease. That woman (as a zombie) was roaming the streets when she saw her old house. She walked up the front steps and attempted to open the door. This suggests that she knew where she was. Also, when the husband shot a gun, she walked towards the house, stopped then turned and walked away. This suggest a sort of feeling or motor skills.
Your blog looks good! I enjoyed reading this post about THE WALKING DEAD. I'm curious to know what you think of the show. Most of what I read here is just a summary of what happened. Personally, I loved the show and can't wait to see more. I'm not big into blood and guts, but this zombie show was really good.
ReplyDeleteSomething to add about your observations... The story of THE WALKING DEAD, like THE REAPERS ARE THE ANGELS, has a personal side to it, too. The zombies aren't the main subject -- it's the personal journeys of Rick, the sheriff. That's why I like it so much.
