If I had to choose one solid side on the homework/ no homework argument, i would have to go with no homework. First of all, as a student, I don't enjoy large sums of homework that will inevitably build up or be given. i think it is unproductive and at worst counter productive. Students dread homework which translate into the fear of school and the hatred of the innocent educators- the ones who give the homework that the students feel pressing down on their shoulders. All homework does is reiterate exactly what has been said in class and if you can't remember something from a forty-five minute lesson with no distractions, there is no way you will remember something from hours of homework with maximum distraction. The only thing that can possibly come out of homework is a toxic fume that turns one into a school-hater.
The articles, both further my opinion. The anti-homework article which talks about the burden that homework puts on the society's kin is useless and a cause of unnecessary stress, is backed by strong facts and years of research. The pro-homework article on the other hand is full of opinions that we can only be positive are viewed by the author.
I find this ironic because as I write this paper on how homework is pointless, i lay in bed while the clock nears midnight with the taste of sleep lingering just out of reach tantalizing as a drop of water in a hot desert. I may be happy about finishing one assignment, but with many more to go, the stress builds.
This is the comment for the blog as it was when I put the comment here. I thought the blog's background looked professional. But the name A&Wsome needs to be changed. On another slight down note there are no book blog posts yet. Although there is a list of blogs which is nice. I am probably supposing that the blog wasn't fixed up before I came and commented.
