Although I don’t remember 9/11 (because I was only three) I have heard a lot about it. I don’t really remember when I first heard about it. Maybe it was because my family has known someone with a 9/11 birthday since before I was born, or maybe I heard about the anniversary of it on the news when I was young. When I first learned about it, I was still an ignorant, young innocent child so I was appalled that someone could do such a thing to the wonderful country of America. Soon after, though, I learned that not so many people like America.
Although I don’t know very much about the causes and effects of 9/11, I may know some facts. First, I think that the cause of 9/11 started back when George W. H. Bush went to war (Gulf War) during Operation Desert Storm. This got an anti-American point of view raging so the extremists (Al-Queida) launched an attack on America. After that, America got kind of pissed and the Bush administration used it as an excuse to go back to the Middle East to finish what his dad had started. When we got to Iraq, we decided to be “kind” and “helpful” and we decided to reconstruct Iraq and get the people who we didn’t like out of power and who we said had nukes (Saddam Hussein). Also, we wanted their oil. When we got there, we did some good damage to Al-Queida and took Saddam out but then we moved to Afghanistan to try to bring the Taliban down (they provide suspected safe havens for Al-Queida) and we are still there to this day.
